Arkin Allen (Mercan Dede) is not just a world star, but also one of the most original musicians of Turkish origin. He plays the ney (flute), but adorns his often mystical sounds with all sorts of electronics and samples. He subtly combines the Oriental spiritual traditions of Sufi music with contemporary ambient and chill-out music. His spirituality is expressed in his interpretations of traditional Sufi music, but also in his own compositions, inspired by his holistic view of the sound and rhythms of nature. His DJ sets are renowned for their mix of subtle techno and Sufi traditions. With the Arkin Allen Tribal Duo he presents a fantastic live set together with a percussionist.
