A delightful night, inspired by the musical performances in the popular cafés of Istanbul
The special guest on this night is the actress and singer Meral Polat, who will present a theatrical tale (in Dutch) with the theme ‘Zeitgeist in the songs of Mogollar in the '70s, '80s, '90s and after’.
Moğollar was one of Turkey's first rock bands. The band was founded in 1967 and through experiments with combinations of Western rock and Turkish folk music, incorporating ancient poetic folk lyrics, developed a unique style, which still makes it one of the most relevant rock bands of Turkey today. In their Café Istanbul programme they make a journey through the development of Turkish Euro rock from 1968 until now.
